In the Jordan desert is the settlement of Zaatari, home to thousands of refugees displaced by the Syrian Civil War. This surprisingly bright film depicts their grim world through the eyes of four children, innocent and cheerful despite their situation. One little boy sells sweets on the streets to support his parents, while another gives up his cycle to afford clothes for his younger brother. A young girl fights her mother’s efforts to keep her from growing up too quickly, while another is drawn to the stage despite the teachings of religion. While much has been lost, the dreams in their eyes hold out a light for the future.
