Who Cares
Edmonton, Alberta, emerged as the epicenter for sex worker homicides in Canada. A task force of Edmonton Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) and police officers, called Project KARE, was set up to protect them. This documentary covers the unit and an officer from the team who is collecting DNA samples from prostitutes for future post-mortem identification, while looking into the unsolved murders of women. Filmmaker Rosie Dransfeld captures the dangerous world that three sex workers inhabit and also documents their battles with addiction, abuse, neglect & violence in cinema vérité fashion.
