Is the earth paying a heavy price for our obsession with plastic straws? Why do we even use them when we chuck them into the bin after a single use where they lie for 200 years? But straws are a part of a much bigger problem, that of large scale plastic use. Every year we dump eight million tons of plastic into our oceans making the water a living hell for its inhabitants. When a video of a plastic straw stuck in a turtle's nostril went viral, companies like Starbucks banned its use, showing there is hope. How long will it take for us to change our attitude towards using plastic?
