When prostitution is called the oldest profession in the world, the implication is that women choose to sell their bodies. On the contrary, prostitution must be recognized as the oldest form of slavery which it is. In Europe, flesh-peddlers make € 3-5 billion per year by preying on young girls from Africa and Eastern Europe. They smuggle them with false promises of a better life and push them into the flesh trade. The girls have no control over their bodies and face poverty, illness and violence. This wanton exploitation cannot end by legalizing prostitution but by completely eradicating it.
