The tiny islet of Kokota, in the Zanzibar archipelago off the coast of Tanzania (East Africa), is only about 2.5 kilometers long and 1 kilometer wide. It is not the kind of place where you would expect to find people innovatively adapting to climate change. But life here hinges on solving major problems like deforestation, water shortages, and a collapsing fishery. Resorting to rainwater harvesting, constructing solar panels, and agroforestry by planting close to 300,000 trees, discover how Kokotans have dramatically improved their lives and habitat despite climate change.
